Welcome New Students at Convocation

This year, we are welcoming 7,000 new first-year students and 2,500 transfer students from 31 states and 62 countries. New Student Convocation, the annual ceremony to welcome all new students to Rutgers University–New Brunswick, will be held virtually on Monday, August 31, 2020 at noon.
The ceremony will be thirty minutes long and will include remarks from President Holloway, Chancellor Molloy, and a segment from student leaders promoting the values of the Knight's Call. Everyone is encouraged to view this program to hear the messages about expectations, opportunities, and resources that have been developed to support student success. A live-chat feature will be available for you to welcome and engage with our newest Scarlet Knights!
All details will be available at convocation.rutgers.edu. Following the ceremony, the full program will be posted on the Convocation website, along with additional information about the various resources and opportunities referenced in the program.

Now Enrolling: Rutgers Psychology Child Development Center
The Rutgers Psychology Child Development Center is pleased to announce immediate enrollment opportunities for children ages 1-4 years old on both Cook and Douglass campuses in New Brunswick. The program has implemented health and safety protocols in accordance with the New Jersey Department of Children and Families COVID-19 Related Health and Safety Requirements and the university's Returning to Rutgers: A How-To Guide to Repopulating Rutgers Spaces. In addition, all staff have completed COVID-19 testing and are cleared to return to the classrooms. Learn more about the safety protocols in place.
Free Virtual Fitness Programs from Rutgers Recreation
Join Rutgers Recreation for free virtual fitness programming to help you stay fit while remote. Rutgers faculty and staff are invited to join challenges and try virtual fitness classes on demand or live. Rutgers Recreation is offering barre, butts & guts, yoga, pilates, RUFIT, and Zumba classes. Programs are free, but may require registration. Qualtrics is Now HIPAA Compliant
Units that regularly work with HIPAA-protected data can safely use Qualtrics. Qualtrics is a web-based survey tool that is designed to conduct survey research, evaluations, and other data-collection activities in support of the university's educational mission and organizational goals. Fall 2020 New Jersey Film Festival - Now Virtual

The annual New Jersey Film Festival will be hosted online this year from September 13 to October 25. The festival, sponsored by the Rutgers Film Co-op/New Jersey Media Arts Center and the School of Arts and Sciences Cinema Studies program, showcases new international films, American independent features, experimental and short subjects, classic revivals, and cutting-edge documentaries. Register for Upcoming Project ECHO Sessions
Rutgers Project ECHO hosts sessions to help improve access to care within an engaging and easy-to-use video setting where specialists share mentoring education and case-based learning with participants. Register for upcoming sessions: Intergenerational Factors of Childhood Adversity and Trauma on September 2, Empowering Patients with Diabetes During COVID-19 on September 3, and Medically Assisted Treatment Screening & Diagnosis of Opioid Use Disorders on September 4.

Hope and Resilience at the End of Life Conference
The School of Nursing's Center for Professional Development will host a one-day conference on September 24 to address crucial conversations in the end-of-life. Presented by an experienced, multidisciplinary panel of speakers, this educational opportunity equips professionals working in end-of-life care to transform crucial conversations at the end-of-life. Participants will gain critical knowledge so they may continue to find joy and satisfaction in serving patients with chronic or life-limiting illness. View the schedule and register.

Rutgers Ranked as One of 2020’s Best Colleges for LGBTQ+ Students
Rutgers has been named one of 2020's Best Colleges for LGBTQ+ students through a partnership of Best Colleges and Campus Pride. Based on a combination of Best Colleges' Academic and Affordability Metrics and the Campus Pride index score, this national ranking recognizes Rutgers' efforts to encourage and build a safer and more inclusive LGBTQ-friendly educational and campus environment for students of all gender and sexual identities. These efforts include providing support services and programs offered by Rutgers Center for Social Justice Education and LGBT Communities and a variety of LGBTQ+ student organizations as well as providing housing options for queer and non-binary individuals. Petros Levounis
Petros Levounis, professor and chair of the Department of Psychiatry at New Jersey Medical School, has been appointed associate dean for professional development effective August 24. In this role, he will guide faculty as they seek promotions in their academic rank, or tenure, as well as oversee student career development.
